Virtual Virgin Money London Marathon 2021
On October 3rd 2021, 100,000 people will be taking part in the biggest marathon ever staged in the world. 50,000 will be running the streets of the capital and 50,000 will be doing it from wherever they are in the country, completing the marathon distance over 24 hours and choosing their own route. We have 3 runners joining the BDA Benevolent Fund’s team to run wherever they are and to fundraise on our behalf.
Hi, I’m a dental student currently studying at Kings College London. I took up running during the first lockdown, and made it my goal to run a marathon having become a keen member of Strava. Having run my own half marathons, this is my first official race, and I am very grateful to the BDA Benevolent Fund for giving me this opportunity. Add link to charity page
This amazing charity helps dental students, dentists and their dependents in the UK who suffer financial hardship. Dentistry is a huge part of my life, and it is so rewarding being able to help others who may be struggling in our profession. When I am not studying or running, I love to cook and share recipes on my Instagram page @ronanleefoodie.
Dr Zayd Rawoot
I have always had a keen interest in helping those less fortunate than myself and I have always endeavoured to achieve this goal. I’m very passionate about dentistry and I really enjoy my role as a GDP. With my commitment and dedication to the profession, I feel it is imperative to support my fellow colleagues who are struggling and I would be delighted if you could kindly sponsor me for the London Marathon 2021.
I love to keep fit through regular exercise including swimming, biking/cycling, walking/hiking, running, and football, all of which enable me to escape the stresses of life! However, I look forward to the amazing challenge which lies ahead for what would be my first ever marathon! I have previously completed sponsored bike rides including the London to Paris bike ride a number of years ago, participated in several charity football and other sporting events. I hope to also be completing a ‘Mighty Hike’ challenge this summer in the Lake District which I believe will also stand me in good stead for the virtual London Marathon. I can’t wait to get going with training in full flow and I look forward to all your help and support in sponsoring me for what is a fantastic cause and organisation!
Dr Helen Reddington
Hi, I’m Helen and I work in a predominantly private dental practice in Southwell, Nottingham. I feel lucky to be in a job that I enjoy. I have a lovely patient base and get on well with my dental team. I was really honoured when I was contacted by the BDA Benevolent fund with an offer of a charity place in the Virtual London marathon, 2021. It has been a hard few months for our dental profession and this year more than ever I have tried hard to keep on top of my mental and physical health. Running has always been something that I enjoy and is been a great way of achieving this.
I ran the BUPA great north run a couple of times a student when I was at Newcastle University and was a regular park runner pre-pandemic. I have never completed a marathon, but this seems the perfect time to set myself a new challenge and support a fantastic charity. I better get myself some new trainers! They’ll have a full 24 hours to complete 26.2 miles on Sunday 3 October! You can sponsor them via the Virgin Money Donation Pages
Virgin Money London Marathon 2021
Following the announcement of the postponement of the London Marathon from April 2020 to October 2020 and then to October 2021, we hope that you will continue to cheer, encourage and sponsor Dr Robert Chaffe who is continuing to train and fundraise on our behalf (even throughout this extended period). Read more about his journey and why he’s chosen to fundraise for the Charity below.
Hi. I am a dentist working privately in London. It was an honour to be selected to run the London Marathon on behalf of the BDA Benevolent Fund. It is a small charity that does a lot to support our fellow professionals in crisis and has been around for over 138 years! It would be amazing if you could support this wonderful organisation by sponsoring me for the London Marathon in October 2021. Please donate now via my fundraising page. I love running, it is a way I help to handle stress and keep fit. I have just the Royal Parks half marathon and the great north run many times, so I’m quite an experienced runner, and something I’m incredibly passionate about. I also love my job and it seems so important to help my fellow professionals who are struggling and I hope you can help support them. You can follow my training and progress on my Instagram page @Robertchaffe and on Facebook. I can’t wait to [finally] get going!
