London Marathon 2021
On October 3rd 2021, 100,000 people took part in the biggest marathon ever staged in the world. 50,000 in the streets of the capital and 50,000 from wherever they were in the country, completing the marathon distance over 24 hours and choosing their own route.
Meet our 2021 runners:
Hi, I’m Helen and I work in a predominantly private dental practice in Southwell, Nottingham. I feel lucky to be in a job that I enjoy. I have a lovely patient base and get on well with my dental team. I was really honoured when I was contacted by the BDA Benevolent fund with an offer of a charity place in the Virtual London marathon, 2021. It has been a hard few months for our dental profession and this year more than ever I have tried hard to keep on top of my mental and physical health. Running has always been something that I enjoy and is been a great way of achieving this. I ran the BUPA great north run a couple of times a student when I was at Newcastle University and was a regular park runner pre-pandemic. I have never completed a marathon, but this seems the perfect time to set myself a new challenge and support a fantastic charity. I better get myself some new trainers! Hi, I’m a dental student currently studying at Kings College London. I took up running during the first lockdown, and made it my goal to run a marathon having become a keen member of Strava. Having run my own half marathons, this is my first official race, and I am very grateful to the BDA Benevolent Fund for giving me this opportunity.
This amazing charity helps dental students, dentists and their dependents in the UK who suffer financial hardship. Dentistry is a huge part of my life, and it is so rewarding being able to help others who may be struggling in our profession. When I am not studying or running, I love to cook and share recipes on my Instagram page @ronanleefoodie.
Hi. I am a dentist working privately in London. It was an honour to be selected to run the London Marathon on behalf of the BDA Benevolent Fund. It is a small charity that does a lot to support our fellow professionals in crisis and has been around for over 138 years! It would be amazing if you could support this wonderful organisation by sponsoring me for the London Marathon in October 2021. Please donate now via my fundraising page. I love running, it is a way I help to handle stress and keep fit. I have just the Royal Parks half marathon and the great north run many times, so I’m quite an experienced runner, and something I’m incredibly passionate about. I also love my job and it seems so important to help my fellow professionals who are struggling and I hope you can help support them. You can follow my training and progress on my Instagram page @Robertchaffe and on Facebook. I can’t wait to [finally] get going!
